Miami’s First Creator Weekend Is Coming This October And Only Six Local Businesses Will Be Part of It

The first ever Miami Creator Weekend! Miami has millions of visitors. The question is which businesses they'll remember.

Miami has never had a problem getting attention.

The problem is that most of that attention goes to the same version of Miami.

People go to South Beach, they party at clubs with random tourist. The soulless side of Miami… the side only non-native know.

This October, Iguana Growth Studios is bringing its Creator Weekend format to Miami for the first time, with a deliberately different goal: show millions of viewers the Miami that locals actually know, the hidden restaurants, the water, the neighborhoods, the nature, the art, the culture and the businesses visitors usually discover too late.

Miami Creator Weekend will bring together just 10 emerging creators for a highly curated multi-day experience across the city and surrounding nature.

And only six Miami-based businesses and experience operators will be selected as official partners.

We're bringing 10 creators to Miami for the culture

Founder of Iguana Growth Studios, Kayla Gilchrist, is a multi-generation Miami Native. Something most people in Miami can't say they are.

The creator group is being built to reflect the audiences Miami actually is made of.

The weekend will include a mix of Latino creators, American creators, Florida-based talent and international creators working across lifestyle, travel and adventure.

They are not being selected simply because they have large follower counts.

Each creator must have generated at least 1 million views within the previous 60 days, and the group will have a combined projected reach of more than 50 million impressions across audiences already consuming cultural travel, lifestyle and experience-based content.

That matters because the people watching these creators aren't only watching for entertainment.

They're deciding:

  • Where should I eat this weekend?

  • What should I do when I visit Miami?

  • Where should my friends stay?

  • What's actually worth booking?

  • What does Miami have beyond the places I've already seen online?

As Iguana explored in its analysis of the Expedia × IShowSpeed travel partnership, modern travel content doesn't stop at awareness.

Audiences increasingly use creators as a discovery layer for destinations, experiences and businesses, and the strongest campaigns make the experience itself the story rather than interrupting the story with an advertisement.

That is exactly what Miami Creator Weekend is being designed to do.

Why Hidden Miami Businesses Stand to Benefit the Most

Some of Miami's best businesses have almost no relationship with the version of the city millions of people see online.

A family-owned restaurant may have incredible food but never appear in a viral Miami itinerary.

A watersports operator may offer an experience travelers would gladly book, but tourists don't even know it exists.

A boutique hotel may offer something dramatically more memorable than a major chain but lose discovery to properties with much larger advertising budgets.

Creator Weekend is designed to close that gap.

Rather than putting six business logos on a banner, each selected partner becomes part of an actual experience.

If the creators learn an unusual watersport, the operator becomes part of the story. If everyone stays together at a unique property, the hotel becomes part of the story. If a dinner becomes one of the standout moments of the trip, the restaurant becomes part of the story.

That model already worked during Iguana's Cabarete Creator Weekend in the Dominican Republic, where six emerging creators spent five days surfing, wing foiling, scuba diving, horseback riding and experiencing local hospitality.

The campaign wasn't built around scripted endorsements. Iguana built experiences worth filming and gave local partners a natural role inside them. Content, testimonials and continued exposure for participating businesses remained after the creators went home.

One of the clearest lessons from Cabarete was simple:

A traditional placement gives a creator something to show. An experience gives them something to talk about.

Miami is next.

This Is Not a 50-Creator Influencer Party

Miami Creator Weekend is intentionally small. There will be 10 creators. There will be six official Miami partner businesses.

That's it.

Iguana created the Creator Weekend format around the idea that fewer, better-integrated businesses can generate more meaningful content than an event packed with dozens of sponsors competing for attention.

The participating companies aren't being added as background sponsors. They are helping create the itinerary. That is also why the partner list is so selective.

We're looking for the places people should associate with the real Miami:

Thats artistic, historic, and cultural hotels. Our rare water sports and outdoor experiences and exceptional restaurants.

And businesses doing something people simply cannot experience everywhere else.

What Happens If Your Business Isn't Included?

There are hundreds of excellent businesses in Miami.

Only six can participate.

And that creates a simple reality: when this content begins circulating this fall and winter, the businesses featured throughout the weekend will be the businesses audiences see when they're actively looking for things to do in Miami.

The campaign is expected to generate exposure across a creator group representing more than 50 million monthly views, reaching both Miami-area audiences searching for their next weekend experience and travelers planning fall and winter trips to South Florida.

Someone watching from Orlando may save a restaurant for their next weekend in Miami. Someone in New York may add an experience to a December itinerary.

A Miami local may realize there's something in their own city they've never tried.

A traveler watching from Latin America may build an entire day around something one creator experienced.

The businesses that are part of those stories have a chance to become part of the viewer's actual itinerary.

The businesses that aren't included won't.

And as Iguana wrote following Expedia's IShowSpeed campaign, viral travel attention has a short half-life. The opportunity belongs to businesses that are visible at the exact moment inspiration turns into search, planning and booking.

From the Caribbean’s First Creator Weekend to Miami

Iguana Growth Studios first introduced the Creator Weekend concept in Cabarete as an alternative to the traditional influencer trip.

The goal was never to fly creators somewhere, give them a gift bag and ask them to post.

The experience was the campaign.

Creators were brought into the water, onto surfboards, beneath the ocean and into local businesses. Partners didn't sit beside the content. They made the content possible.

Now Iguana is taking that same philosophy home.

Miami Creator Weekend will take place in early October 2026.

One highly curated look at a version of Miami millions of people rarely get to see.

If your hotel, restaurant, watersports company, adventure business or experience represents something people should know about Miami, Iguana is currently reviewing potential partners.

Once the six positions are selected, the partner roster will close.
